About Us
During the early 70’s, the presence of Filipinos in Nottingham and surrounding areas was small, mainly apparent in the nursing profession, the hotel and catering and domestic industries and in the marriage of Filipinos to British nationals. Gradually, the number of Filipinos in this area increased, and in 1994, the first Filipino community organisation, the Nottingham Club Filipino, also encompassing the East Midlands, was established and flourished actively and successfully for the next 10 years.
In 2006, with the demand for, and influx of nurses and carers, who settled in Nottingham with their families, it was inevitable that an even larger organisation would be formed, and so, the Nottingham Pinoy Community, was founded, and recently, this was appropriately re-named the Nottingham Filipino community (NFC) with a membership that is increasing rapidly.
